Medical devices design

Innovate quickly and confidently, knowing that your design, development and manufacturing environments will produce cutting-edge medical devices.

NX makes working with scanned data much faster and easier because it can be used and modified for various downstream processes—such as 3D printing and virtual clinical trials—without extensive rework. This means that a client can scan an anatomical structure and build a model of a medical device based on it in much less time than before. NX is an integrated CAD/CAM/CAE solution that can perform every task needed, from scanned data to finished product.

Part design for 3D printing

Leverage Convergent Modeling, a brand-new modeling paradigm that greatly simplifies the ability to work with geometry consisting of a combination of facets, surfaces and solids, without requiring time-consuming data conversion. The first technology of its kind, it enables engineers to optimize part design for 3D printing, speed up the overall design process and make reverse engineering a far more common and efficient practice in product design.

Once scanned data is in NX, it can be used and modified for various downstream purposes, such as 3D printing and virtual clinical trials. A device can be test-fit in the virtual environment before the design is finalized.

Convergent Modeling

Create CAD models that conform to anatomical structures. The medical industry is experiencing increasing personalization in the medical field, including patient-specific structures. This personalization drives a need for CAD models that conform to anatomical structures, which requires scanning existing structures into 3D so a model can be created.

NX with Convergent Modeling makes working with scanned data much faster and easier because it can be used and modified without extensive rework. This means that a client can scan an anatomical structure and build a model of a medical device based on it in much less time than before. By using a design tool that can easily modify scanned-in data, designs are completed more quickly and accurately.
